A Disciple of Prophet
T.B. Joshua
Man of God, Sybrand Janse van Rensburg, known as Sybrand JvR is one of the disciples and sons of his father in the Lord, Prophet TB Joshua. Along with many others from all over the world Sybrand JvR had spent many years from 2002 with his mentor, father and teacher, Prophet TB Joshua before TB Joshua sent him to pastor The SCOAN, Cape Town branch for more than a decade.
Everything is beautiful in God’s time. Since 2021 Sybrand JvR took time out for renewal, seeking God’s guidance and direction for the way forward. Since a small boy the man of God knew that he was called, he simply needed someone who was led by the Spirit of God to point him the way to Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. That someone is, Prophet TB Joshua.
On June 21st 2024 Sybrand JvR started a ministry in Cape Town, South Africa after he went to visit Pastor Evelyn Joshua at The SCOAN, Lagos, Nigeria.
However, There Was One Issue…
The ministry was opened, but it had no name. Sybrand JvR continued to say, “I am waiting on God Almighty for the name. Jesus is the Founder of the ministry and He will reveal the name for the ministry at the right time.” Sit back and read below how it all took place.

Biography of Man of God, Sybrand JvR
Sybrand JvR is one of four children born to Pieter and Emelia on 21 June 1978 in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, South Africa. He grew up in Cape Town, and after completing a diploma in agriculture, most people expected him to pursue a career in that field. However, God had a different plan.
In January 2001, while still considering his future, he received a call from friends inviting him to help them to start a Bible school. He accepted the invitation to serve on the staff, driving the bus, being a student coordinator, while studying alongside the students in Wellington, Cape Town.
During this time, in June 2001 Sybrand JvR prayed earnestly to God to lead him anywhere in the world where he could experience the Jesus of the Bible, to see and learn about Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. One morning, as he woke up, the power and presence of God came upon him and pressed him down to the ground. It was such an extraordinary experience that it is difficult to explain with natural words. In his heart, he clearly heard the Lord saying twice: “Go and be a disciple under Prophet T.B. Joshua. There I will teach you that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever.” The same voice instructed him to go to the kitchen. Struggling under the weight of God’s presence, he made his way there, as the first student he encountered said, “Sybrand, I believe the Lord is telling you to visit The Synagogue Church of All Nations yourself.”
He went back to his room and asked God how to go about what he heard because what took place that morning was so clear and could not be ignored. It was the Higher Hand leading him to somewhere higher. The Lord simply replied with these words, “Tell people your experience.” From that day, he faced a lot of opposition. Everybody, but one person doubted the message was from God.
With the help of one of his previous lecturers, he sent out emails to churches, family and friends about God’s vision to go and be a disciple under Prophet TB Joshua. Sybrand did not receive a single response. This motivated him the more to keep on pressing to pursue what God has put in his heart. He did not reduce his vision. The Lord had spoken so clearly that he could not afford to ignore the divine instruction. Thirteen months later Sybrand JvR stepped his feet on a piece of Heaven on earth, after the lecturer herself sponsored his trip to The SCOAN with a tour group.
At The SCOAN
Sybrand JvR witnessed God’s mighty power through His servant, Prophet T.B. Joshua. After a brief meeting in the Prophet’s office, Prophet T.B. Joshua gave him $500 and asked whether he wanted to stay or return home and come back when he was ready. Sybrand JvR replied, “Stay. I told everyone I’m not coming back.” This marked the beginning of a life changing journey.
Sybrand JvR says, “If not for SCOAN, and if not for Prophet T.B. Joshua and Pastor Evelyn Joshua and the Joshua family, I would not be where I am today. God used Prophet TB Joshua to point me to Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and to teach me that the Book of Acts is not just mere history—it is the pattern of what God wants HIS Church to be like today.”
After spending four years with Prophet T.B. Joshua, the sent Sybrand JvR to Cape Town to pastor The SCOAN branch for the next ten years, telling him, “You may not have preached like your brothers and sisters at the altar, but the Lord will use you in Cape Town. That is where you will prove yourself.”
To date Sybrand JvR’s life journey marks many ups and downs, rough fields and lonely places due to unchangeable events and due to the consequences of his own decisions but our God used everything to mould His servant to prepare him for the task ahead. God Almighty continues to arrange the events which unfold one by one as He reveals His purpose in Sybrand JvR’s life. The journey has just started. The same words Prophet TB Joshua spoke to Sybrand JvR when he sent him to Cape Town are still echoing God’s divine plan and purpose for a time such as this.
Sybrand JvR says,
“Prophet TB Joshua taught us that the Lord will take His time before He gives you something, because His name is attached to what He gives.
God doesn’t want the name, Jesus, to suffer corruption. God will wait until you are ready to maintain what He wants to give you. Prophet TB Joshua taught that processing is greater than result. God will take His time with the process in order to create His character in you, which represents the oil, so that the flame, which represents the anointing, can keep burning.”
A Time For
Preparation & Renewal
In 2021, after Prophet T.B. Joshua returned Home to be with the Lord, Sybrand JvR had a dream in which God used Prophet TB Joshua to tell him, “From tomorrow, I want to minister with you. From tomorrow I want to work with you.” In the dream Sybrand JvR asked the man of God when he should start and when he could come and stay there? Prophet TB Joshua answered, “You will start tomorrow and you can come and stay here from the end of January.” Prophetically and very remarkably, Pastor Evelyn Joshua was the one driving the vehicle in the dream after Sybrand JvR saw the Prophet TB Joshua.
This dream marked the start of a New Season, a New Beginning, a time for Preparation and Renewal. Sybrand JvR immediately started to take time out for renewal in preparation of God’s divine call. This dream came at a time when Sybrand JvR had lost everything except the renewed hope God had given him through the dream.
Like many Heroes of Faith, Sybrand’s JvR failures, mistakes and circumstances became the very thing God used to get him to the place He wanted him to be in order to use him. Almost daily Sybrand JvR started to go to the mountain, seeking the face of the Lord. In 2022, he had a vision of Prophet TB Joshua in Heaven. What took place in the dream became his focus and direction. Until today he keeps that dream in the forefront of his mind as his guard and guide.
Following God’s instruction in 2023 Sybrand JvR moved to a tiny room in one of Cape Town’s coastal towns, seeking God’s guidance and direction. At the end of 2023 in the dream an evil spirit spoke to Sybrand JvR the following words as he was praying for a lady’s deliverance, “Sybrand, Sybrand! I’m talking to you, Sybrand. Where did you come from? You were supposed to have been long gone and forgotten.” As Sybrand JvR woke up he went on his knees and thanked God Almighty for having mercy on him and for giving him another chance and for preparing him for God’s divine call.
Early 2024, God led Sybrand JvR back to The SCOAN to meet Pastor Evelyn Joshua. A friend opted to sponsor his trip to SCOAN on 28 January 2024 according to the voice of the Lord in the dream
(“You can come and stay here from the end of January.”). Pastor Evelyn
(the one who drove the vehicle in the dream after seeing Prophet TB Joshua)
encouraged Sybrand JvR, reminding him that as one of the sons of Daddy (Prophet TB Joshua) that he was among the first set anointed by Prophet T.B. Joshua and should step out in boldness and let the legacy of Prophet TB Joshua live on.”
